Everyone knows the story. The comic here points out the part that EVERYONE misses. It changes the whole context of what happened when we do not take this into consideration. Because we skip this part, we just see this as a story of Yeshua’s forgiveness. We think about “what is He writing in the sand”. However, if we take this part of the story into context, we see that Yeshua was keeping Torah.

The Torah, the instructions for Life, state that both parties in the adultery act are to be present. The tempters here only brought one. They couldn’t rightly judge according to God’s instructions without both. They were trying to trick Yeshua into saying she should be stoned, which would be breaking Torah. There is also the subject of witnesses and trials. God didn’t command us to go stoning everyone that did something wrong without the elders reviewing. Justice is supposed to happen. Sometimes that justice includes mercy. Yes, this is an example of Yeshua’s mercy, but it is also an example of His obedience.
