If Paul was actually teaching that we were not to follow the Law (how some people interpret “being under”), then it would make no sense for him to be quoting it when he talks about the righteousness of faith and what it says. The whole point of this chapter is about being in the faith and not “under the law”, which he clarifies as being in sin. Sin is transgression of the Law (1 John 3:4)
This goes back to something I have brought up in several comics: the Law would be better translated as Instructions. It is our guidebook on what is good and what is evil (Deut. 30:15) It is not something that the Israelites were suppressed by or that we need freedom from. It IS our freedom (James 1:25, Psalms 119:44-45)
