Come one come all for the fight of the ages! Moses vs. Yeshua! A battle over how you are to live for God!

This might as well be the tagline for many churches and believers. Even though I was once one of those that thought this way, it amazes me how we got to this point. Yeshua himself over and over quotes Moses. Remember, what they called Moses was the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible. When Satan was tempting him, who did He quote? Moses. When telling what the most important commands, who did He quote? Moses. I have a mini-series on Yeshua’s teachings in the Old Testament pointing these instances out more specifically.

But how did we get here? It goes back to what my last two CvB comics were on and the quote from Yeshua in John 5:

“For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

We don’t believe Moses’ writings because we have been taught to pretty much ignore them. Sure, we will read Genesis and especially teach it in Sunday school and make all the stories cute for the kids, but it is rarely taught outside of that. We don’t know what Moses says because we don’t read Moses. If we do read Moses, we read it in a way that we block out what we are reading because “it doesn’t apply to us”.

As I have shown in previous comics, belief isn’t just feeling or knowing or trusting something, belief is action. Just as James says, faith without works is dead. If we do not do Moses’ writings, how will we do Yeshua’s words? Short answer: we can’t. Yeshua’s words are built upon the writings of Moses. (Hebrews 3) Why are they built on those writings? Because those are God’s Words. All over them you find “And God said…” over and over. We can’t take random verses and say “This is the Word of God!” Matthew 4:9 ISN’T the Word of God. What is? Where it tells us! Yeshua said Himself, that His words are not His own, but the Father’s. How can we validate that? Moses.

So the question is, do you believe Moses?
