There was a good talk from a Christian pastor we had listened to just before Halloween one year. It was during the time our eyes were waking up to what the Bible actually says. In his sermon he was talking about how evil Halloween is, but yet many Christians celebrate it. We were. I had been since I was little. We saw no problem in it. He brought up the origins of the holiday and also things like witchcraft which surround it. Then he brought up Harry Potter, a witch. How many churches are using examples from the series, having viewing parties or book clubs around it. Yet, we know from the Bible, God doesn’t like witchcraft. Our desensitized minds have looked over that fact. “Oh its fun for kids, there is nothing wrong with what’s happening on there. It is all imagination”.
He then changed the story. Instead of witchcraft, Harry Potter was a pornographer and was the best at it. Everything else is the same, but instead of casting spells, he is making porn. Now how does everyone feel about it? People would be outraged? Why? Because that is a sin! His point was, so is witchcraft. Sin is sin. If God says don’t do it, we shouldn’t do it, or take pleasure in seeing other people do it. That is us lusting after things not of God, and not thinking on things that are lovely and pure. Something to think about.
