This is a big one. Once you read and understand that “the Law of God” and “the Law of Moses” are the same thing, and that at times it is just shorted to “Moses”, so many things become clear. The biggest examples out of the verses listed above are Nehemiah 8, where both “the Law of God” and “the Law of Moses” are used interchangeably in just a few verse span and Luke 2, where Jesus is brought to the Temple to be presented to the Lord as it is written “in the law of the Lord”, except there is no commandment in the 10 Commandments to bring a newborn to the Temple. There is a command in Exodus 22:29 that the firstborn sons are God’s, which is after the 10 Commandments were given.
The 10 Commandments can be looked at as categories. Say for example you have a policy at work to “Dress Appropriately”. Well, that is the rule, but what does that mean? There are several sub-rules to explain, like no shorts, or flip flops and the like. Same thing with God’s Commands. “Honor your father and mother” – well, how do we do that? Exodus 21:15-17 says to not strike our parents. Deuteronomy 21:18-21 talks about children (seems to be an adult child by the description) not listening/obeying their parents. Jesus even speaks of helping our parents is part of our duty in Matthew 15:1-9 and not helping them is breaking the main commandment.
This can be done with all of them and there are a few images I have seen fly around facebook that do just that.
