I grew up with this church mentality. I held it and would argue for it. The Law was how we are supposed to know that we need a Savior. No one could keep the Law except Jesus. However, when looking in the Bible, both of these previous thoughts were proven to be incorrect. The Law wasn't so we would know we need a Savior. He already saved His people, He was helping them on how to live right, live holy. The Bible also records people that kept the Law and were considered blameless according to it.
