If His Word is True: God doesn’t like the Sabbath?

August 27, 2026

I’ve seen some use the Isaiah 1:13 verse along with verse 14 to show that God hates the Biblical Feasts and Sabbath. However, like Isaiah is pointing out, we have to keep in mind the context and not just cherry-pick a verse. This whole chapter, God is lamenting the fact Judah is filled with sin. Everything they are doing is wrong. In this state, they are still doing the Feasts and Sabbath.

They are doing these things with the wrong intent. Verse 11 mentions sacrifices, which is the start of 13 is addressing. They aren’t doing the sacrifices because they are repentant and trying to get back on the right path. They are doing them and continuing in whatever sin they are in.

They were slapping God in the face. Asking for forgiveness, yet having no intention of changing.

Context matters.
