I included the verse in 2 Corinthians as I believe this is the same concept, as what are slander and gossip if not spreading false witness of someone? Someone may argue that one of the two things could have come from reputable sources, or even in the case of slander, you might have seen it yourself. However, the intention to do either of these things is to bring someone down, the same as baring a false witness on someone. This is not loving your neighbor.
The three chunks of Scripture just below the rest are stories in the Bible of Jesus, Stephen and Paul. All three stories are times when false witnesses were brought against them. I wanted to highlight them as I believe that the same spirit that brought these false witnesses is still alive today and running around in Christianity/the church. Read carefully what the false witnesses are claiming, then examine what you believe that these three taught. Are they the same? Are you also bringing a false witness to one of these three?
