We use this same type of expression in English: Charlie is out to make a name for himself. Charlie has a name, he is looking to get a reputation. Something people will know him by. Famous for whatever Charlie is going after. The same with God in these verses. How much more accountable will we be than those of the past as we can see their mistakes on representing our Father the right way?
