This is a common one that is brought up a lot to show that Gentile believers do not need to follow the commandments given through Moses. However, the council not only gives commands from Moses for these new believers to follow, they also state that they will “hear Moses, as he is read every Sabbath”. If they were not supposed to follow them, then why are they giving some for them to follow, and then wanting them to hear those commands every Sabbath?
The hypocritical thing about this being brought up to say new believers no longer need to follow, is that in all my years of going to church, never once have I heard a sermon covering the 4 things listed to abstain from in Acts 15.
